the term blackjack just means a 2 card 21 as opposed to a 3+ card 21. You must have an Ace and a card worth 10 in your initial 2 cards, so an Ace and a (King or Queen or Jack or Ten). If that happens you win immediately, usually at 1.5 times your wager. You can also get to 21 using other combinations, for example if you start with a 10 and a 6, then your third card is a 5, you’ll have 21, but not blackjack. The biggest difference between a 21 and a blackjack is the payout, blackjack gets 1.5 – 1 (if you bet $10, you win $15) and 21 gets even money (if you bet $10, you win $10). The second major difference is that blackjack wins immediately. 21 has a chance to “push” (or tie) if the dealer ends up getting 21 you win nothing and lose nothing.
