Face Card Games For One Person

face card games for one person
Why will splitting tens in a game of Blackjack cause other players to leave the table?

I read in a previous Yahoo Answer (title: “How come in blackjack, they say never split facecards and tens?”) the pure odds reasons for never splitting tens and face cards in a game of Blackjack. However, the person who received the best answer said – and I have read on other websites – that splitting tens will cause others at the table to become upset with you, and leave.

Why should they care how you play? The unique thing about Blackjack is that each person is playing a separate game against the dealer. One person’s outcome can’t change the other people’s outcomes.

Is it just a matter of professionalism? As in, if people are good gamblers they don’t want to be associated with someone who isn’t good at the game? Still, if the person is being polite, I don’t see why their play affects anyone else.

On another note, is this serious enough that it would get you thrown out of a casino? Or would they just let you keep playing because they have the odds?

I used deal Blackjack and back my own table. Here’s the deal. You can do whatever you want. You’re right, it’s your hand you should play it as you want to.

Think of it this way though… if you have 20, the dealer only has one possible hand that can win. 21. That’s it. Pair that with the fact that the dealer can only draw up to 17. Chances are you win every time with 20 or at very least push. Rarely will it lose.

So why do the other players get upset? Well, true Blackjack players understand that strategic play with everyone playing against the dealer (and not just for themselves) greatly increases everyone’s odds of winning over time. Splitting your made hand, increases the odds of you losing. The goal is to win. This also makes them lose confidence in your abilities to participate as a strategic team member. The idea is now you took at least two additional cards out of the deck that dealer had to use. So now, you changed the odds up by taking more cards. Whether it beats the dealer or not is obviously going to be purely conditional to the stack of the cards… but you essentially split a made hand. Imagine now that you were third base, your second hand from the split is delt another ten or face. Good for you, you have 20 again… you could even split. Say the dealer’s upcard was a 5. Well, basic blackjack strategy suggests the dealer’s down card is always 10. You just took the 10 he had to hit (remember he’s still under 17) on his 15. You took the dealer’s bust card. This will piss the table off everytime.
