In the card game Hearts, why do people sometimes voluntarily take all the remaining cards early in the game?
In some instances while playing online, people will take all the reamaining cards, say, after they landed the queen of spades. Wouldn’t it be better to play the hand out and try to foist the hearts upon other players?
It’s called shooting the moon. If you get the Queen of Spades and ALL of the hearts, you get zero points and all of the other players get 13 apiece. Since the object of the game is to get the least number of points, it’s a good maneuver.
