Micro Card Games And Tricks
Cheap desktop from Micro-center?
I have a friend who is looking to buy a cheap desktop for his family’s needs. He has a 1 1/1 year old boy so there isn’t much gaming going on, and they’ll use it for basic email checking and web browsing. Typical “people” things will be done I guess(Taxes, looking at family photos, etc) but no graphic designing, extensive video editing, or hardcore gaming is going to happen.
Prepared to spend around $400-$500, is a cheap computer from microcenter the way to go? They’re simple Compaq or Dell designs running Windows 7 home, 3-4gb of RAM, 320-500gb hard drive, some have integrated graphics other a basic graphics card. Will these do the trick? or are there better options? Any suggestions on which cheap PC is worth getting and that will last at least a few years 2-4 I’d hope. Would it be better to get an older IBM over a new E-machine?
Thanks for any help!
They only need the basic features of what modern computers can do. The economic ones on the market will handle, quite easily, anything they will need. 4 Gb of RAM is ALOT for the normal user.
And they will never fill a 300GB HDD. As far as your question about getting something decent and used, or getting something crappy and new (e-machine) – that depends….are they wanting to get a warranty ? Are you gonna be there to help them when it breaks ?
I tell people all the time NEVER EVER BUY THE CHEAP STUFF, IT ALWAYS COSTS MORE IN THE LONG RUN. But if people cant get anything else, then they dont have an option.
The 1st thing they willl need to do is to get all the crapware off of the new computer. (all of the programs nobody uses and slows the computer to a crawl) – you can re-install the OS if you have a disc, or use a program called Decrapifier (free).
Regardless, the new computer will perform ALOT better once all of the useless programs are removed.
