I’m upgrading my graphics card and have a few questions, please read on!?

Ok so i want to upgrade from a geforce 9800 gt to either a geforce 9800gtx+ or a radeon 4850. Which one is better graphically speaking? Could you please explain in detail why one is better than the other. I’m going to be playing games like COD4,COD5, Deer Hunter Tournament, Medieval 2 Total War and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I heard the 4850 has alot of driver problems, does it? Will it take alot of time to get the card up and running? And if there are any other graphic cards out there that you would suggest over the ones i’ve listed please tell me about them! Here are my com specs,

Gigabyte Ultra Durable 3 Motherboard
Windows XP Home Edition SP3
AMD Athlon 7750 Dual Core 2.71ghz processor
XFX Geforce 9800 GT
2.00gb DDR2 of high performance gaming ram
Corsair 650W psu with 52A on a 12V rail

4850 is better than 9800 gt but NOT 9800 gtx. I can only explain why 9800gtx is the best compared to 9800 gt because to compare ati to nvidia cards u have to run tests to see which scores higher, thats the only way since ati doesnt reveal their cards specs as detailed as nvidia.

what u wanna look at is the
texture fill rate/
processor cores/
memory data rate/
memory bandwith/

the more texture fill rate and memory bandwith you have the more powerful your card is. the memory data rate is just the quality of the memory on your card, just like your ram ddr2 like u said im going to assume its 800mhz because thats the most common ddr2 ram. as you can see the 9800 gt has 1800 mhz memory, very nice.

now take a look at the 9800 gtx

you can see it has better texture fill rate and memory bandwidth. not only that the memory on it is 2200Mhz, 400 mhz higher than the 9800 gt.

As for the 4850 , ati doesnt reveal these detailed specs you can only compare their benchmark scores to a nvidia card, the 4850 is better than the 9800 gt for sure but its slightly under the 9800 gtx. But i dont know about Ati but they do have bad rep for running alot hotter than Nvidia cards because they are typically overclocked much higher, plus the 4850 u can buy for 130 dollars, the 9800 gt alone costs 150 to 170. Why do u think ati sells theirs so cheap? Nvidia also has lifetime warrenty if u register after 30 days purchase and a trade up program where u send in ure card and they pay u the full amount u paid for it for u to spend on a more powerful card.
