Which cost free Linux Distro works best with a Ati Graphics Card?

i tried Ubuntu and i really like it but the drivers for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4600 just don’t keep up with my games.
My card isnt even listed on the Ati site, and ubuntu finds the drivers from their repositories, but they have stated that they will not modify drivers to make them more compatible with Operating system,
