How can I take an idea I have for a simple yet fun card game for toddlers and find a mfctr to produce/sell it?

This is a basic card game is for toddlers and small children, ages 2 to about 8. I’m curious to find out what steps I would have to do and who/how I would go about finding a manufacturing company to produce them and how I can get them on major retailers shelves, etc.

I think it’s a great game and it could have potential. My wife is a graphic artist (packaging) and we are both in the marketing field(advertising/mktg/promotions), but don’t really know about the manufacturing/production/merchandising side.

Any help/experience would be greatly appreciated!

Before you start looking at manufacturers…You should first do a market validation of your product/idea. Great ideas are a dime-a-dozen, but if there is no market for the idea, then it will not likely succeed. Also do a thorough competitor analysis to decide if you can effectively compete and gain some sustainable competitive advantage. A good starting point is to read “A Good Hard Kick in the Ass – Basic Training for Entrepreneurs” by Rob Adams. He was one of my MBA professors at The University of Texas.
