Do both DS units have to have the same game cards to link up for 2 player games or can you just use one?

I’m a 35 year old dad, brand new to Nintendo DS. I play some PS2 games and a PC game or two… Anyway, next week I’m giving my son a DS for his 11th birthday and I’m enjoying trying his out so much I’m going to get one of my own! We are big Age of Kings on the PC, and it will be fun to play each other on DS. Also, I’m completely in the dark about the wireless capabilities, any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on the game, some require one card, some require 2.

As for wireless? Pretty simple, you stand near each otehr and your DS’s can connect with each other wirelessly, the best range I’ve managed to get without losing signal is about 30ft (with a wall between the DS’s)
