Are there are any other ideas for me with the kids tonight…?

I asked a question late last night about what to do to entertain two 9 year old girls and two 7 year old boys. It’ll be too dark and cold to do anything outside. The house isn’t that big and there’s a “no running in the house” rule. (We play hide and seek sometimes but it’s not as fun when we have to walk quickly rather than run)

I got ideas of coloring, arts and crafts, board games, movies and baking. I’d rather stay away from the TV and computer because I like making things fun for them, not just stick ‘em in front of the tube.

Any other ideas? Or any specific games or creative activities we can play? I have the game “Apples to Apples” but I doubt they’d understand what many of the sayings on the cards are/mean.

My little brothers (ages 7 and 9) love playing charades. You can change the rules up a little bit to suit your needs, but it’s a really fun game to play with the kids.
You could make paper aeroplanes and then have races with them. Just type in “paper aeroplane instructions” in google if you don’t know how to make them.
Put on a fun CD and play stop and start. Play the CD and have the kids dance and make it so they have to freeze when you pause the music. Then you can arrange them in goofy positions; so they look like they are posing like monkeys or something.
