What is the matter with my laptop? Won’t play games on Windows 7!?
I have a Acer Aspire 5739G that I got a few months ago. Acer sent me a free Windows 7 upgrade disk. Before I upgraded it, all games worked fine. Now, when I put in the CD, the initial game screen comes up, I click on “play,” it starts to load, goes to a black screen, like it used to do, but then never comes back. I tried updating the graphics card, but no luck. Any ideas?
Did you reinstall the game?
If so, then you may have a pop up coming up behind the game to ask you to run as administrator. It waits for only so long then closes the program. Here’s how to fix:
1) right click on the executable file – Example: C:Program FilesGameGame.exe
2) go to properties
3) go to the compatibility tab
4) tick the “Run as administrator” checkbox
NOTE: Robert K’s suggestion will work, but you’ll have to do that every time you play the game. With the steps above, it will automatically do that for you so you can just pop in your CD and run it.
