In Monopoly, what happens after you use a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card?
In Monopoly, what happens after you use a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card or pay your way out early?
Do you move your token from “In Jail” to “Just Visiting” and nothing else? Or do you still get to roll?
The official rules are silent on what is supposed to happen. Does anyone know? If you have a licensed electronic or video game version of Monopoly, how does it behave?
Jim: I think it’s a given that the player is already in jail. Are you basing your answer on how you’ve always played?

Ice Cream Man: That web site reiterates the official rules, which don’t answer this question.
The official rules seem silent about what is supposed to happen
because nothing is different about when you roll.
• You move your token from “In Jail” to “Just Visiting”
when you use the “Get Out Of Jail Free” card.
• You roll when you would have rolled, whether you
use the “Get Out Of Jail Free” card or not.
On your turn to roll:
• If you roll first, and afterwards use the “Get Out Of Jail Free” card,
then you wait until your next turn to roll.
• If you first use the “Get Out Of Jail Free” card,
then you can still roll right then.
• Using the card, before you roll, gives you that
chance to get an extra turn with doubles.
• Using the card, after you roll, gives you that
one more chance to get doubles to get out of jail free.
By the way, it works much the same way for the paying $50 early;
but not for: paying $50 because you already rolled tree times while in jail.
