How do I play “Die Siedler von Catan”?
Recently I purchased “Die Siedler von Catan” in Germany as I remember playing it while in the USA. The only thing is, I can’t recall how to play it, and my German isn’t good enough to translate the game’s instructions or the cards it has with it. Any help on translating it or a site that has the translations?
I assume you mean the board game rather than the card game. After you lay the hex tiles out randomly in a circle, then put the number counters out in alphabetical order in a spiral. Put the Robber on the desert. Roll for who goes first. Last player places 1 settlement (house) at the intersection of 3 tiles and 1 road leading out from it. Next player does same until First player who gets to place 2 settlements and 2 roads, then work backwards to Last player who places his second house & road. Can not place settlements adjacent to opponents. Roll for production: the hex tiles under the matching round counter number(s) produce that good, and cards are handed out to players with settlements touching the producing hex. (The Robber comes out on rolls of 7 and allows the roller to move the Robber and steal a random resource from one adjacent player.)
