a tie in the game of war ( card game )?

ok so I know the normal rule for ties are that the players would lay down three face down cards and then a tie-breaking fourth card. but my problem is that I have tied with the other player and I have no more cards ! we both put down a 10 ,which in the deck that we are using is the card with the highest value. since i have no cards to lay down, but the other player does , does that mean i lost ?
i hope u understand that i layed down my last card . it was the same as the card that the other player layed down. i have NO MORE CARDS to lay down in order to win or loose the tie and thus the entire game .

Whenever you are breaking a tie in War, if you need to place additional cards and you only have one left, you place your last card as the face-up card to face-off against.

For instance, I tie Ace to Ace and I have two cards left. I lay down the first card, and then I place my last card face-up. Yay, it’s another Ace!
My opponent has the other 48 cards in the deck, so they place 3 face-down, and then their next card goes face-up. If it happens to be an Ace as well, then they continue to do the 3 down 1 up pattern until a winner is decided. Since I have no cards left to play, I wait until the decision.

War can take forever, thus the moral: war is a waste of time that only ends with sore losers and unjust (lucky) winners.
