What problem does this computer have?
Google searches: When you select a web site, it takes you do a completely different site. You have to do it 2 or 3 times.
Spider Solitaire: When starting a game it deals the first card. Then there is a 3 second pause before it finishes dealing cards.
Screen saver: It runs in slow motion
Antivirus: Avast antivirus
These symptoms are consistent with some sort of process-hogging malware; I suspect a Trojan downloader in this case, as there is evidence of a browser hijack. I have no experience with Avast software, but a number of bogus companies are disguising Trojans and Trojan downloaders as antimalware.
Your system really needs to be cross-checked against an up-to-date system with McAfee Internet Security or Norton 360°; your Avast installation may have no detection capability for the cause of your symptoms.
