how do casino pit bosses record the gambling activities of players seeking to get comped for their play?
When you buy chips at a gaming table the pit boss wants to see your VIP card and makes some notations so the casino knows whether you are a big time player or a small fish. What do they actually pay attention to? I want an insider who knows to answer, not just the obvious guesses that he notes how large your initial buy-in is, how long you stay, how much your average bet is, etc.
Can I beat the system by making a large buy-in then leaving the table soon and cashing out? I want to hear from someone who really knows how it works and what data they record.
No, you can’t beat the system that way. The floor person tracks your buy-in’s, length of play and average bet. Length of play and average bet are more important for comps than buy-in’s. How much you buy in is more for Title 31 purposes than comps. If buy-in’s got a person more comps than everyone would try to beat the system the way you stated.
The best and most consistent way to get comps is to stay at a table for a reasonable amount of time, not jump around every 5-10 minutes. Give your card at every new table you go to. The higher your average bet the better your comps will be. $25 average or more will get the floor people to take you more seriously.
