Please help with the Sims 2 for Macintosh!!!?

This afternoon I tried to purchase The Sims 2 Open for Business at the Apple Store. At the checkout counter, the cashier asked me what kind of computer I have. I told him that I have a MacBook. He said, “but not a MacBook Pro?” I said, “no, just a MacBook”. He told me that the game would not run on my computer, it would only run on the Pro. It was something about the graphics card or something. However, the Sims 2 Pets and Nightlife work on my computer. He said that some people get lucky and are able to run it on the MacBook, but some people aren’t so lucky and wind up wasting 35 bucks.

Is there anybody here who has had the game work on their MacBook? Should I try it anyway?

I don’t own a mac but… I did find find some sites that discuss that many of the more recent games for PC (windows) are very resource intense than some Macs can handle. Desktop Macs might do better.

In my experience with Windows, generally some systems that are not entirely up to spec will do a fickle or slow job of running the game, but will get increasingly slow with more expansions, complicated neighborhoods, more plants, objects, decorations and buildings and sims on a lot can cause the game to crash. Simple neighborhoods and minimalist houses can allow people to play challenges okay, but those with barely in machines, who love to do downloads with custom meshes will soon be out of luck. Plan on upgrading. Sometimes it is the only way to get up to spec with old system boards and CPUs that cannot run the faster graphics.
