Half life 2 unknown video card?

I have half life 2 episode pack. When i play, the game is slow and clunky, especially in cutscenes. When i play, it tells me the video card is unknown and has a button to press to upload the details to their database, but the button is unclickable! Please help, i’m looking forward to playing but can’t at the moment!!!

Check if your drivers are out of date to do this go to the nvidia site or ati depending on what your using i had this problem but then i updated and it fixed it all up.

or it could be your graphics card is just old and needs replacing i would reccomend nvidia 8500 gt for half life 2.
