Card Games Canasta

In the card game Canasta, can you pick up “the pack” if the top card is one that you have already “Canasta-ed?
For example, if I already made a Canasta with JACKS and my opponent places a JACK on the pack, can I pick the pack up?

Not unless you have another jack and a wildcard in your hand (or 2 jacks if the packs blacked).
Remember it is possible (though rarely happens) to make 2 canastas out of jacks anyway.
When the pack is blacked I have won a few big stacks with a pair of cards that have already been canasted by myself or opponent….so much for a safe throw out huh.
I specialise in collecting red 3′s……LoL
