Whats the Best graphics card to get thats Good for gaming especialy FPShooter’s, games that have alot of AI players, and alot of detailed graphics…

Games Like
ArmA: Armed Assault
Medieval 2: Total War….

This could turn into an expensive hobby for these reasons…

1. High end Nvidia and ATI cards are expensive especially with 512Mb or even 1Gb.

2. ATI are known as good gaming cards but aren’t as hot for Video or “normal” use.

3. It doesn’t matter how good the graphics card is is you don’t have a good, fast CPU and preferably high end twinned RAM cards.

4. If you are daft enough to be using Vista don’t forget you need a hell of a lot or memory “RAM”, 4Gbs is about right.

5. Your motherboard should have at least 1 PCI-E or PCI-E2 graphics card slots.

6. Your VDU should also be fast refresh rate and with a high end resolution otherwise it doesn’t matter how good your system is as you will see blurring and lack of detail.

My main recommendation is that unless you have a load of money to spare get a console because you could be looking at £300 for the graphics card alone.

There are many cheaper graphics cards (check eBuyer.com) which do give really reasonable results.

I don’t mean to put you off PC gaming but in my opinion it is a very costly option compared with (for instance) the XBox 360 or even the PS3
