Recently I played in a friendly poker game and had a question I wanted to get clariefied. If a flush is on the board does the rule with the best five card hand with kickers still apply? I had AJ of diamonds and the other player had pocket 3s one club one spade. The board ended up showing a flush of clubs with a Jc 10c 8c 6c 2c. It was agreed that the other player won since he had the 3c which was higher then the boards 2 was this correct? I had just always thought that in those situations it would be a split pot since the low card is of no concern. anyway it seemed a very bad beat to me n has been bugging me since I lost due to that hand so If anyone had any input it would be greatly helpful thanks

Poker is the best five cards.

You mention “rule with the best five card hand with kickers”, the kickers are included in the five card hand.

So he had a flush of J-10-8-6-3
You have J-10-8-6-2

Of course he wins. You thought the low card is of no concern? Why not? You said yourself its a 5 card hand. All 5 cards count.
